Q1. Is it there a reduction in cost for bulk key cutting orders?
Indeed, having lots of the same keys cut will generally be cheaper than having just a few cut. Expect the first break-point after 50 keys. It might be best to just give us a ring for larger key cutting orders.
Q2. How long will it be until you send the keys out?
Keys which we control directly will normally go out the day the order is received here. That includes most desk/pedestal/locker keys, and many Evva keys, in particular the 235D series. On other occasions, the keys will have to be made by the manufacturers and sent to us. Expect some variation in performance there, some manufacturers are really on the ball, and we have the keys within a couple of days, others are not, they might take up to a week to get the keys to us.
Q3. What happens if the keys don't work?
The statistics are clear, over 99.7% of the keys we sell do actually work as they are intended to. In the few remaining cases, we would then have to delve into the causes of the problem. If the keys are incorrectly made, then we'll probably go through all the underlying info again: The key-type, the number, the cuts as shown by the in-house code-key-cutting software. On occasions, a refund has been issued.
Q4. What about car-keys?
The manufacturing of car keys as roadside assistance in the Greater London area: Yes. But we don't fabricate car keys via an online facility. Car security has come a long way in the past 10 years, and due to the incredibly high quality of most car locks, car theft has been reduced to a fraction of what it used to be. As a consequence, prices for car locks and keys have spiralled upwards, and making car keys has become a highly capital intensive and complex industry. It's thus best to contact a car-key specialist. Q5. How can an order be placed?
Via the online key cutting order form, by email to help@metrolocks.co.uk, by fax on 0207 253 8038 or by phone on 0800 980 7212. Alternatively you can use snail mail to 1st Metrolocks, 7 Vestry Street, London N1 7SS. Anything in writing is usually preferred, because it means that you as the client has to type out the key number. That way, mistakes can be avoided.
Q6. Can one be invoiced for keys cut online?
Individuals can not be invoiced. Companies or organisations can be invoiced in principle, but often the small amount of expenditure incurred from cutting keys may make it preferable, that everything gets paid by credit card on the spot.
Q7. What methods of payment are available?
Most of our smaller key cutting order, be they for high security keys or standard pedestal, locker, desk and other keys are paid for by credit card. A credit card payment can be made over the phone, or soon via our secure online payment facility which we will be introducing in March 2007.
Q8. My location isn't listed on the nationwide availability page. Am I covered?
The Metro-Locks mail-order key-cutting reaches every UK business or home, which is serviced by Royal Mail. We have as yet not found a UK address, to which we couldn't deliver keys.
Q9. I need an locksmith urgently. Do you offer this service?
Under the umbrella of Metro-Locks is a large local locksmiths call-out service, with operatives in every corner of the M25 and beyond. The locksmiths are fully trained and vetted, their expertise and speed of deployment pack a powerful punch to get you security problem solved.
Q10. I would like the keys delivered to a different address. Is this possible?
You can specify any UK delivery address which suits you. As a rule, high security keys get sent via Royal Mail's registered delivery service. The delivery will have to be signed for. If you are unlikely to be around, when the keys arrive, it is best to chose a manned address, such as an office, for delivery.
Q11. I have both standard keys and high security keys - can I place the order at the same time?
Placing mixed orders for standrad and high security keys is as such not a problem, it will mean, however, that the keys may get to you at different times. High security keys may take a bit longer to come to you than standard keys.
Q12. I ordered some keys to be cut previously with you - will you have this information on file?
All your information will remain on file, with the exception of the credit card details and in most cases the key numbers you ordered.
